Mr Myrddin Rees - Consultant Liver Surgeon

Mr Merv Rees is the Hepatobiliary Director and has been a Consultant Hepatobiliary Surgeon at the North Hampshire Hospital since 1986 after a period with Professor Johannes Scheele in Erlangen, Germany.

He has established a liver surgery unit which is now recognised worldwide for its expertise.

Since 1995 Merv has led the ARK fundraising appeal. His relentless passion and determination has ensured the building and realisation of this £5 million Centre.

Fenella Welsh - Consultant Liver and General Surgeon

Fenella Welsh qualified from Cambridge University and St Mary`s Hospital Medical School in 1992. She spent two years in Leeds working for her MD Thesis and underwent basic and higher surgical training in the London region.

She was the International Clinical Fellow in Hepatopancreaticobiliary and Transplant Surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 2003-4 and consolidated her hepatobiliary training with a further year`s Fellowship here in Basingstoke in 2004-5. She was delighted to be appointed as a Consultant Hepatobiliary and General Surgeon at the North Hampshire Hospital in 2005, to support and take forward the liver surgery work.

Mr Tim John - Consultant Liver Surgeon

Mr Timothy G John MBBCh (Wales) MD (Edinburgh) FRDSEd(Gen) has been a Consultant Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Upper GI (Laparoscopic) Surgeon at NHH since 1998. He qualified at the Welsh National School of Medicine, Cardiff in 1987.
Tim trained in Edinburgh in HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation and undertook a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Brisbane, Australia.

 
He specialises in liver and pancreatic resectional surgery as well as advanced laparoscopic general surgery (cholecystectomy, anti-reflux surgery and hernia repair).
