Sir Peter Michael CBE - Chairman
Since graduating in Electrical Engineering, Sir Peter has had a distinguished career in high technology enterprises and many varied business activities, including founding and chairing Classic FM. He has sat on numerous Government committees associated with high technology and research activities.
In 1999, Sir Peter and friends decided to start the Pelican Cancer Foundation in order to support the work being pursued by Professor Bill Heald and his colleagues in Basingstoke. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sir Peter takes a keen interest in the work and aspirations of all involved in Pelican.

Professor R J Heald OBE - Surgical Director
Professor Bill Heald`s main interest for the past 20 years has been the research and development of the Total Mesorectal Excision (TME) technique for rectal cancer. He is a former Vice-President of the Council at the Royal College of Surgeons of
Through his interest in camera technology Prof Heald has been able to film surgical procedures throughout the world using the latest high definition cameras and projectors. This allows superb clarity for the viewing audience of the intricate structures of the pelvis.

Dr John Fowler - Medical Director
Dr John Fowler is a retired cardiologist who brings to the Board of Trustees the view of the "elder statesman", although his knowledge of colorectal disease is probably now second to none!

Mr Brendan Moran - Consultant Colorectal Surgeon
Mr Brendan Moran is the Colorectal Director and has been a Consultant Surgeon at the Basingstoke & North Hampshire Foundation Trust, Basingstoke, since 1995. He specialises in colorectal cancer but was also appointed Director of the UK Pseudomyxoma Peritonei National Centre based in Basingstoke since 2000.
He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Southampton, Cancer Sciences Division, and is a Member of Council, Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain & Ireland.
When Pelican was awarded the National Multidisciplinary Team TME Development Programme by the Department of Health in June 2003 he became the lead surgeon for the Programme.

Mr Roger Brooke OBE
Mr Roger Brooke has been a supporter of Pelican for a number of years. He is a director of IP Group plc and a supporter of Swarraton Partners, both of which are involved in financing high-tech spin-outs from principally British universities. He is also involved with various new ventures being launched by the Royal Society to support university research.
Through his own charitable trust he has supported other charitable activities in Hampshire, including particularly asthma research at Southampton University.
