The Peter Michael Foundation

The Peter Michael Foundation is on a quest to discover and underwrite the most promising tools and technologies for the identification, treatment and management of prostate cancer. The Foundation is finding and funding truly innovative research with exceptional scientists at world-class institutions.

Sir Peter and Lady Michael have been actively involved in cancer research and cancer charities for some time. Peter is one of the Founders and the Chairman of the Pelican Cancer Foundation in the UK.

In the United States, the Peter Michael Foundation is a ten-year old, California-based, 501(c)(3) corporation devoted to fundraising for prostate cancer medical research and patient care.

The Foundation is currently underwriting four postdoctoral research fellows at: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Stanford Cancer Center, Helen Diller Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCSF, and the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center & University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Sir Peter and his team believe that tumour imaging is the key to the proper planning of all cancer management and that it is particularly deficient at the present time in prostate cancer.

Superior imaging will improve the identification and characterisation of cancers before and after therapy. This refined imaging of the extent and volume of the prostate cancer helps physicians select the best course of treatment for improving optimal patient outcomes.

The Peter Michael Foundation has published an award-winning, large format book ‘HANDS and HEARTS: The passion to create great food and wine’. The book includes beautifully photographed portraits of fifteen of the world’s finest chefs and their restaurants, along with original recipes thoughtfully paired with a variety of Peter Michael Wines. HANDS and HEARTS can be seen at The book is available complimentary with donations to the Foundation of $300/£200 or more.
