Research costs Pelican Cancer Foundation will cover:
- One Year Research Fellowships, which may be extended for a second year
- Project Grants (including pilot and feasibility studies)
Studies funded through these funding streams are eligible for inclusion in the NIHR Clinical Research Network Portfolio and therefore able to access NHS support via the NIHR Clinical Research Network infrastructure.
Please note that in scenarios where Pelican Cancer Foundation provides top up funding for research projects that were initially funded by another organisation, we request evidence that the project has been peer reviewed, or else ensure that the application is externally peer reviewed before awarding the grant.
Support Costs and VAT:
Pelican Cancer Foundation will not cover any support costs for medical research. As members of the Association of Medical Research Charities researchers who receive grants from Pelican can apply to the Charity Research Support Fund (CRSF) – which will be allocated by HEFCE to universities in England on the basis of eligible charity income. The CRSF is intended to meet a proportion of the Full Economic Costs (fECs) of charity funded research grants.
Pelican Cancer Foundation is not VAT registered and will not pay VAT on any grant funding.
