The 3D Camera, which you, our supporters so kindly funded along with match funding from the Greenham Common Trust, was delivered to Basingstoke Hospital in April. The first operation using the new camera took place on the 15th April 2016 and was very successful. (In the photo you can see the team wearing their 3D glasses using the new 3D camera.)
Mr Venkat, the Consultant Surgeon who used the equipment first, said: “The new camera is great; the improved visibility is amazing and is enabling us to perform even more precise surgery. We have been able to do more complex cases using the new camera that would have required open surgery before. It has been particularly useful for our trainee surgeons who can now more easily perform keyhole surgery because of the depth of vision it provides.”
Thank you to everyone who donated towards our 3D camera appeal, your generosity is improving treatment for bowel cancer patients at Basingstoke Hospital.
