This year’s Scott Elvis event, the fifth organised by Linda, was again held at the Great Danes Hotel in Kent, raising funds for Pelican Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Care.
Linda’s world turned upside down when she was told that she had Pseudomyxoma Peritonei. She learnt that she would need to be treated in Basingstoke, one of the two centres of excellence in the UK. In 2011, Linda successfully underwent cytoreduction surgery with HIPEC carried out by Mr Brendan Moran and his team. The surgery is incredibly complex and she learnt that Pelican Cancer Foundation’s work towards making precision surgery for this sort of cancer is the best it can be. Pelican is continually researching and analysing best practice and training surgical teams across the country with a view to making sure that patients like Linda receive the best care possible and don’t just survive cancer, but have a life after it as well.
At this year’s event, Scott Elvis gave a great night’s entertainment to 140 guests and the dance floor was full all evening!
Through everyone’s generosity, Linda and family were delighted to have raised £2,341 for Pelican Cancer Foundation, bringing the total raised through this event and other fundraisers to over £14,000.
Next year’s event is already planned – so please mark it in your diary for the 12th October 2018!
